Trout Rising in Patagonia

guys, i’ve been experimenting with video here, so bear with me if this post keeps changing and your comments are disappearing.

this was from about 2 weeks ago up near Aluminé in northern Patagonia.  yes, Argentina, the real Patagonia.  the trout season is upon us.  we have some space left, some discounts on a few special weeks (email me for details) in January, February and March.  anyhow, these fish are rainbow trout, all in the 17″-20″ class, feeding happily on insects in the river, mostly mayfly spinners and whatever other junk collects in the foam.  there were no less than 20 of these guys in the near vicinity, but i couldn’t get them all in view at the same time.  video by Joey Lin, music by The Meat Puppets.

Patagonia Rainbow Trout

Arroyo Pescado Rainbow Trout

here’s a photo of a 20″ rainbow from Arroyo Pescado near Esquel.  this is a photo from few years ago.  the thing is that i’m actually here in Aluminé for a week.  no fishing, but just hanging out with friends and getting ready for a busy fishing season.  i shot some great video of some feeding trout that i will post later.  the satellite internet connection in this little town is like 25 kpbs, i tried to upload a 15 meg file to google yesterday, and it failed 3 times for some reason, so i’ll wait til i get back to buenos aires to do it, in a few days.  talk to y’all later.  -joey       photo © Joey Lin
