hey, everyone. back in Buenos Aires for a few days before heading up to northern Argentina. but will post a few things from Aluminé. Patty Riley came last week to visit us at Northern Patagonia Fishing Club. Patty, like me, is an agent who books fishing travel here to Argentina. she’s been coming to Argentina since the early 80’s and was one of the first guides to ever float any of the rivers down here in Patagonia. hard core.
she was down with here with Ann Hamner, one of her fishing buddies who goes all over with her. Ann is a bad-ass. she just turned 80, and fishes very well. they were down in Tierra del Fuego fishing for sea-run browns in my friends’ new operation down there. check out the fish HERE.

anyway, these photos are from the week after, when they came to visit us up in Aluminé. i was around to show patty some hidden streams we had. these are from a horseback trip we take that fishes a creek in a 1000 ft. canyon. the water was a bit low, and a lot of the fish that are normally there weren’t around, or were hiding due to the warm temperatures and low water. we did still see a few very large browns and rainbows. it was a lot of rough hiking and some bush whacking to sight fish to some of these fish, new zealand style. the day ended with a nice asado and wine by the side of the river. photos are of a 20 inch brown and a 20 inch rainbow Patty caught. the brown was caught in 2 feet of water, hiding behind a rock and ambushing food. was a tiny tiny plunge pool smaller than a bathtub. the rainbow was caught sight casting in the shallows with a small ant imitiation. the guide in the photos is Katy Melo. photos by Joey Lin. cheers.

so, our last group of clients left happy from here in Aluminé. tito and i had a few days to ourselves to fish, our guides were resting, so we decided to fish on the Aluminé and Llamuco creek on our own, walking. the photos above are of a pancora crab, tasty food for the trout here that gorge on them. they are like crayfish with their tails tucked in. really cool. incidentally, “llamuco” means pancora in the Mapuche Indian language.
the following is a photo of an 18 inch brown i caught in Llamuco creek. a tiny little stream with some nice pools. more later. cheers, Joey

hey, guys…been stuck in front of a computer for a few weeks. haven’t got new photos from clients that have been down here fishing yet, thus the lack of posts. anyhow, came down a few days ago back to Northern Patagonia Fishing Club…Wallace Henderson of NYC brought a nice group of guys down this past week. they had spectacular fishing, mostly in some of our smaller creeks that you can hike and sight fish to rising trout.

these photos are from Thursday on a creek that i won’t name. fishing was awesome. sunny, no wind for the better part of the day. multiple springs feed this meandering creek in a flat valley before dropping into a canyon. we sight fished to large browns and rainbows all day, most of the fish were between 17″ and 24″. these are photos of Steve Renehan. we bush-whacked and sight fished, New Zealand-style, all day long to these big and eager fish. he caught and lost several browns in the 20″-24″ range, fishing a Mahogany Dun all day long. these 2 fish are what he finished with (a 22″ rainbow and a 23″ brown), just before the afternoon thunderstorms rolled in and shut off our light. photos ©Joey Lin…cheers…
